When is an Updated ENI Necessary?

ENI Data

Under what conditions will I need to regenerate the ENI for a network?

  • any change to node order (not counting swapping two identical products)
  • additional/fewer nodes
  • changed station alias or product code
  • updated product revision (i.e. using a different ESI file)
  • changing sample frequency
  • changing EtherCATNodeInfo.xml

Documentation References

(Is there other documentation about this?)

All of the mentioned bullet points will necessitate regenerating the ENI file.

That’s good to know.
Are there other scenarios that I didn’t mention?

Can’t think of any right now. As a rule of thumb, any substantial changes to topology (hardware or firmware) will require re-generation of the ENI.
