Beckhoff EL7047

Hi. I just wanted to ask if beckhoff EL7047 module will be recognized as a motion device ( drive) and can be driven as a multi axis system along with two other CiA402 compliant servo motors on the same etherCAT network?

In my setup.

Axis 1: CiA402 servo drive
Axis2: CiA402 servo drive
Axis3: stepper motor driven by EL7047.

Thank you !

Hi @rdhillon,

We having integrated or used the EL7047 yet, but that device seems to have the exact same profile as the EL7041 which we have customers using. The difference is Vector Control which is typically an AC motor rather than Stepper motor thing. I’m not really familiar with this feature and how it applies.

From the RMP perspective, it should be easy to control this device similar to already supported products (EL7041s). It has the same EtherCAT profile as the other node.

To follow up. Yes the EL7047 can be made to show up as an Axis on the system.

Okay, Thank you ! I think the vector control is only usable when using Beckhoff’s stepper motors which has a new enhanced position mode according to their documentation. 3rd party stepper motors are not supported under that option.

I will use the EL7041 as the functionality seems to be the same.
